My name is Nelson E. Brown and I'm a 19 year old environmental science student at CCBC in Catonsville, Maryland. At CCBC, I'm a secretary of the Project Sparks Success Team and I'm an editor, writer, and artist on the editorial board of the school's literary magazine. I am employed at the Maryland Department of the Environment with plans of obtaining a career in environmental science.

The Beauty In Us-Our Reality is the first book in my book series, "The Beauty In Us". The book series is about promoting the positive aspects of controversial topics, such as beauty, body image, self-acceptance, and colorism. This first book is a memoir about how I struggled with my self image growing up.

I am training with a team of ministers at the Messiah Community Church in Reisterstown, Maryland to become one. In the spring, I will be teaching a discipleship class as a small group facilitator with fellow ministers and mentors. It was always a dream of mine to teach men, women, and children about the love of God. I'm now using my platform, age, color, talents, passions, and background as a young black men in order to do that. I want to show millennials and generations of children behind me that the grace of God is the only thing that keeps you humble, blessed, and happy in various areas of your life.
