The Millennial Dating Coach

Marquita Johnson is a graduate of Mercer University with a Master of Science in Community Counseling and Master of Divinity. Marquita received her undergraduate degree from Georgia State University in Psychology & Sociology. She is a licensed professional counselor and a nationally certified counselor. Her specialties include women issues, career, dating, divorce, step-families, and grief counseling.

In an effort to promote healthy relationships, Marquita started offering coaching services to help millennials who are dating. While working as a college counselor she found that students were struggling with intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships. Hence she has embraced the call as Atlanta’s “Millennial Dating Coach.” Marquita has completed training in distance credentialed counseling to provide telemental health internet based and phone based counseling.

Marquita has over a decade of experience in the helping field working with various agencies including: Fulton County Juvenile Court, Egleston Children’s Hospital, domestic violence survivors shelters, private counseling agencies, outpatient mental health clinics, a suicide crisis line, and inpatient psychiatric hospitals. Marquita also served as the personal counselor to college students at Georgia State University. Currently Marquita enjoys private practice work, serving as a counselor for a non profit organization helping single mothers, HOPE Inc., and overseeing a Prayer and Care (pastoral care) center at Relevant Church. Marquita believes in counseling the “whole” person. Integrating the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of her clients while taking into account the life paths and showing how they intersect and connect. She is to an advocate for mental health treatment in a holistic manner.

Marquita enjoys working within the community while increasing awareness about the importance of caring for one’s mental health. She is looking forward to pursuing her doctoral degree in the fall of 2018. Marquita is owner of HOPE (Helping Overcome Problems Everyday) Counseling.

Marquita enjoys spending time with her family and friends. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, volunteering with Hosea Feed the Hungry or Mental Health in the African American Community, and trying new restaurants.
